From a young age I was fascinated by the mind and observed that people are often their own worst enemy. I believed that if we could control our own mind then many of life’s problems either would not happen or would be so much easier to sort out.  At twelve years old I taught myself how to hypnotize people.  Four decades later I am still as fascinated by hypnosis and the mind and how we can use it to improve our well-being and achieve our goals.  I study the mind daily and continue to learn and apply new things.

Helping people to feel and do better by sharing information I’ve learned or my experiences, gives me huge satisfaction.  I was a teacher and Head of a large Department in an Inner-London Sixth Form College (16-19 year olds) for many years teaching ‘A’ Level Accounting and Business courses, which I loved but it was tough work teaching and managing a large teaching  team. Since leaving teaching, I have been counselling and coaching adults one-to-one for over fifteen years.

As a Solution Focused Clinical Hypnotherapist, I use my psychotherapy and hypnosis skills to help my clients with their sleep problems, low self-esteem, anxiety, lack of confidence, weight loss, healthy eating and many other areas. Lifelong phobias whether of wasps, flying or anything else may be removed within three sessions and most other issues will be within nine to twelve therapy sessions.

You have to actually want these beneficial changes and you have to be committed to the process and listen to an audio recording at bed time every night to reinforce the work we do in our online hypnotherapy sessions.

Clinical Hypnotherapy sessions with me take place by a choice of either Zoom or Whatsapp video call. This saves you time from unnecessary travelling and means you may session with me from anywhere in the world as long as you have a reliable internet connection and speak and easily understand the English Language. The results we achieve are as effective as if we were together in the same room.

Many of us have a critical inner voice that holds us back in life. It stops us from reaching for our goals or taking risks. It tells us “what’s the point, I won’t succeed anyway”. A lack of self-esteem can cause people to feel uncomfortable saying no or from standing up for themselves. This can lead to all sorts of problems in many areas of life as people may take advantage and you may feel resentful that you are surrounded by users.

Anxiety can be crippling and panic attacks can make it difficult to go out or function normally.  Nothing can be enjoyed in life whilst in the grip of anxiety and panic and it is sometimes hard for other people to understand how awful you feel.

Anxiety is caused by negative thoughts about the circumstances in your life. Not the actual circumstance – your THOUGHTS about the circumstances. You can create anxiety by thinking about events in the past or events in the future that may or may not happen.

Depression may be caused by a lack of happy hormones.  You may feel too tired to get out of bed on most days and can’t think of anything worth getting out of bed for. Maybe you are not that low and are managing to hold down a job and/or look after a family but no longer feel any joy in your life.

Good and sufficient sleep is incredibly important to our health and wellbeing.  Sleep is the time for our mind and body to rest and repair itself. Research has shown that insufficient sleep creates stress hormones in our bodies that lead to all sorts of problems including an increased risk of obesity and Type 2 Diabetes.

Feeling tired all the time effects your concentration, your work performance, your relationships and your general enjoyment of life. If you haven’t slept well you are less likely to exercise or eat healthily.

I have had clients with several decades of sleep problems that within a few hypnotherapy sessions are now sleeping seven to eight hours a night.

A phobia is an intense state of fear produced by a specific object or situation. Phobias are often caused by a traumatic event in childhood. A phobia can be hugely embarrassing in life – suddenly coming over all hot and sweaty, trembling, rapid heart rate, nauseas and dizzy. Maybe feeling like you are going to die or fainting with terror.  It may stop you from travelling if you have a fear of flying, or from enjoying summer outings if you have a fear of wasps.

No matter how many times people try to reassure you that you will be alright and that your fears are unreasonable – it makes no difference. Even worse, you’ve seen exposure therapy cures on television where someone with a fear of spiders was  exposure therapy cures on television where someone with a fear of spiders was made to hold a big hairy one and you can’t think of anything worse than forced, prolonged exposure to the source of your fear .The great news is that I can remove your phobia in three hypnotherapy sessions and it does not involve you being exposed to the source of your fear. You will be relaxing comfortably on your own bed or couch listening to my instructions. I use a combination of hypnosis and NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) to rewrite your fearful thoughts into something much more pleasant.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) in extreme cases can completely take over your life. Even moderate cases may interfere with your daily activities. OCD and anxiety are closely linked and with solution focussed hypnotherapy you can become more relaxed and in control of your anxiety and compulsions.

As humans we can become addicted to literally anything – smoking, drugs, alcohol and gambling are the harmful addictions people most commonly think of but we may become addicted to eating, work, exercise, porn, sex, cleaning, social media, computer games, shopping. Sometimes several of them at once.

Many things in life feel good in the moment but may be bad for us or may be bad if we do them too much. When an activity releases feel-good hormones it is natural to want to do it again and again – particularly if we are feeling stressed or not in control of our lives.

Most addictions will be treated weekly in 9-12 sessions however I offer a specific 2 hour hypnotherapy treatment for smoking or vaping cessation. An initial consultation is not required. Which? and New Scientist have both reported that hypnosis is the most effective way of giving up smoking, and without cravings, irritability or weight gain.

How come there are more diet books and diet foods on sale, more gyms and exercise equipment than ever being sold but still so many people are fat?      The weight loss industry is huge but the obesity epidemic is increasing and with it an increasing risk of Type 2 Diabetes, heart attacks and cancer.

You think about food all the time, you know the calories of everything and you seem to have been on a diet all your life and yet you still can’t lose weight and keep the weight off. That’s just not fair.

Chances are you associate food with having a good time – it makes you feel good when you eat tasty food. You may also turn to food when you are angry, frustrated or bored. You may suffer guilt when you have eaten too much or indulged in junk food.

Naturally slim people do not obsess over food. They eat when they are hungry and stop eating when they are full. They eat what they want to and do not deprive themselves.  They do not generally eat a tray of doughnuts to themselves though they may eat one if it is offered.  The person eating the full tray of doughnuts may have been triggered – may be escaping stress and self-medicating – as the rush of sugar and fat releases feel-good hormones.

Obese people actually feel hungry than slim people as their increased body fat releases hunger hormones and prevents them from feeling full. So it isn’t that they are greedy – their own body is compelling them to eat more.

Food is the fuel for our bodies to repair themselves and create energy. For health we need to eat natural, nutrient dense foods – vegetables, fruits, salads, healthy fats, nuts, seeds and lean proteins.

High fat sugary or salty foods are naturally addictive and trigger overeating, more hunger and cravings. The more refined carbohydrates you eat the hungrier and more obsessed with food you will become.  Have you ever heard of anyone binging on vegetables or apples?  No, you would become satisfied and stop eating naturally.

Hypnosis is when you are purposefully guided to enter the state of hypnotic trance – either by yourself (self-hypnosis) or by your hypnotherapist, to benefit you from your brain’s relaxed state and increased suggestibility.

The trance state is that lovely relaxed feeling just before you drop off to sleep or when you are daydreaming. You are still awake and fully in control and if there was an emergency you would still be able to respond as normal. You cannot be made to do anything that you do not want to do and you cannot be left locked in a state of trance. However, while you are in the hypnotized state your mind is more open to removing old fears, thoughts and beliefs that no longer serve you and accepting new ones that will help you achieve your goals and feel better.

Hypnosis is very natural and we all go in and out of trance by ourselves several times a day. For example whilst driving or exercising you may realize that your mind drifted off. It is a pleasant feeling and most people feel calm and relaxed after their therapy session. Some people experience drifting off as if asleep, some people feel tingly or as if they are floating and some just feel nice and relaxed.
